This was my first foreign trip since covid and turned out not to be the greatest trip travel wise. Friday, the first day I was in Amsterdam there was a national train strike, and metro line cancellations and line closure and what should have been a 30min journey ended up as 2.5hrs.
Returning to UK on Monday it took four hours of queueing from arrival at the airport to clearing the security check fortunately I got to the gate just as boarding started and made my flight.
Judging from the number of names called by the cabin crew before departure I reckon around 25 people missed the flight. The problem was apparently caused by a lack of security staff at the airport.
