Inspired title from pointing my camera towards the sky under the kids monkey bars in my back garden! I knew the Polaris star was somewhere in this section of my back garden but really struck jackpot with it's position in this composition!

Movie made in Quick Time Player at 10 frames per second as 25 fps seemed way too fast!

Inspired to try my hand at some star trails photography after I had a few fails on Saturday night, I tried again last night!

However, I forgot about one thing! The weather and sure enough the clouds rolled in, when I stacked the images in startrails.de software it became a nice white sky! D'oh! However, it makes an interesting video for how the sky moves and you can see the stars moving too!

PS I know I need to cut my grass!

I made the video from 165 images, each image was exposed for 30 seconds.

Camera Nikon D80
Lens Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM
Exposure 30
Aperture f/4.0
Focal Length 10 mm
ISO Speed 1600

CAMlink TP-2800 Tripod
Cable Shutter Release

RAW Files Processed in Adobe Lightroom 4, WB set to Tungsten and used Noise reduction.
165 Images loaded into Quick Time Player to make the Video.
Video ran at 25 frames per second.

Inspired from a visit to the Falkirk Wheel in Scotland and the wonderful reaction I got about the image I posted yesterday I managed to make a very short video of how the lift works!

I mentioned yesterday that I had just upgraded my pc and then installed Lightroom4 and Quick Pro 7! Well I'm like a kid in a candy store! I love Lightroom the "Sync" function is fantastic, I managed to clone out all the dust marks from my filters on all the images in one go!

This is the first time I've made a time-lapse video from my images - may well not be the last! Used Quick Time Player to put the files together - just 13 long exposure images added together at I think 2 frames per second to give it a bit of life!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The Falkirk Wheel is a rotating boat lift in Scotland, UK. It connects the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. Named after the nearby town of Falkirk in central Scotland, the lift opened in 2002. The two canals it serves were previously connected by a series of 11 locks, but by the 1930s these had fallen into disuse. The locks were filled in and the land built upon.
The plan to regenerate central Scotland's canals to reconnect Glasgow with Edinburgh was led by British Waterways with support and funding from seven local authorities, the Scottish Enterprise Network, the European Regional Development Fund, and the Millennium Commission. Planners decided early on to create a dramatic 21st-century landmark structure to reconnect the canals, instead of simply recreating the historic lock flight. Designs were submitted for a boat lift to link the canals; the Falkirk Wheel-design won. As with many Millennium Commission projects the site includes a visitors' centre containing a shop, café, and exhibition centre.
The difference in height of the two canals at the wheel is 24 metres (79 ft), roughly equivalent to the height of an eight-storey building. But the Union Canal is 11m higher than the aqueduct which meets the wheel, and boats must pass through a pair of locks to descend from this canal onto the aqueduct at the top of the wheel. The aqueduct could not have been positioned higher due to conflicts with the historically important Antonine Wall."
