World Tour 2013 - 2014 - day 247

After a first day visiting Inle lake and taking pictures of some genuine fishermen I came back to my hotel and looked at the burmese fishermen pictures done by Steve Mccurry a few years ago. I was impressed by his water reflexion picture and really wanted to do the same kind for the fun. Then I reminded that last day I saw some Touristic fishermen just waiting at a specific place of the lake for pictures. So I ordered a boat very early in the morning and negotiated with him just to take me in this place. Then I asked the two fishermen to pose for me during around 20 minutes and payed for that service but not for the picture. And I could realize that actually organized picture turn out to be more impressive.

World Tour 2013 - 2014 - day 243

Most of burmese girls and women apply Thanaka on their cheeks. It's a natural pasta coming from some trees and has been used for thousands years. It is supposed to give some fresh sensation and to protect from sunburn. Their is no any religion reason for that fashion. I saw a lot in Ko Thao island , next to Ko Samui, in Thailand since it is very close to Myanmar border and many workers coming from from Myanmar live there.

I met her visiting one of the thousands of stupa temples in Bagan. She was selling's some books for tourist but despite I did not buy anything she was very willing to guide me little bit through the temple. Burma people are definitely the most pleasant ones I met in the world with the Japanese. I don't know the reason why but it's an undoubtable fact and very visitor agree with that. So definitely Burma was a relief for me after the fagging India one month journey.

World Tour - Day 240

My World Tour was supposed to drive me from South India to Djibouti by bot since I tried to travel without taking the plane. I wanted to do it by freighter boat, nevertheless embarking in India is strictly forbidden so I decided to go by plane in Malaysia from where I could embark and cross Indian Ocean toward Djibouti. Since this boat would be cruising off the South Indian coast the result would be according to my initial project. Since I had almost one month before embarking date it was the opportunity for me to visit Burma for 2 weeks. This journey was touristic since it is still forbidden there for inhabitant to welcome somme fellow travelers so I could not go out of the track. But the number of visitors is still low and there is nothing to compare to Thailand. Thus sticking to the touristic way is still very picturesque.

I visited a monastery just one hour outside of Yangoon but I forgot the name. It was possible to see the little monk going to lunch. In the street they still walk with this black box which is used to contain the rice. This place is very touristic but I forgot the name so if someone could help me to remind I would be pleased.

Bagan is a must see on a touristic tour and after the morning panorama riding on a bicycle is very nice and people are welcoming though my Burma language level was ridiculously basic since I did not have so much time to prepare for it. There is a lot of monasteries scattered among the hundreds of temples of Bagan so the opportunity for such encounters is quite probable.

World Tour 2013 - 2014 - day 245

Just after Bagan I rode by bus to Inle lake, y favorite place in Myanmar because of the incredible natural mountainous landscape and the numerous little village installed all around the lake.

I rode around by bicycle on long distances and had opportunity to visit a small monastery up the hills.
