I crossed the Nepal border by the Friendship Bridge, which cross a river coming from TIbet and letting travelers go throughout the Himalaya range. This same river marks the border between the two countries. Since I did the oath to travel progressively, I decided after such a scenic journey not to go directly in the so tentacular and touristic city of Katmandu and stopped little bit before in the little village of Doulhikhel, from which I could easily explore the little village and traditional neighborhoods where I could meet some local families. This picture portraits a friend I met in the old town in Dhulikhel. I spent some time in this place to make some photography since the the very traditional Newari architecture. With her sister, who can be seen on the background of the picture, we went to visit a Buddhist temple which made us walk some distance in the countryside. When a little monsoon rain occurred they claded their veil.

From Dhulikhel my Nepali mates took me to Namobuddha Buddhist temple. We had a small ride by bus and a tiring walk along a trail. This is the end of one of the most famous pilgrim in Nepal.
The legend is quite funny. This site is sacred since Buddha, in his provious life was there as a local Prince and discovered a very hungry tigress which was almost dead because of starvation. Since he was very altruist he allowed the animal to eat him. This holy act let him reincarnate himself as Buddha.

Despite this pilgrim is among the most importants in Nepal, the main part of the temple is quite modern so not interesting for the secular visitor but this little shrine at the entrance was quite beautiful. Like in Tibet people walked around the stupas making the little golden metallic boxes turning on it selves. But since most of the population is Hinduist and even though they mixes sometime their religious practice with Buddhist some of them are not so aware of Buddhist tradition habits. So when I asked to my Nepali friend to circle around the Stupa, in order to make a video, I was amazed to see her going in the wrong way. I had to explain her she must go in clockwise direction. I was aware of this rite even before my Tibet trip, thanks to the Haddock Captain.

The old town in Dhulikhel is very small but the local ambiance is more authentically than in Katmandu traditional places. Since I liked the place and met some local people I stayed more than one week before leaving to Katmandu.The schoolers always wear uniform in Nepal, which is quite picturesque.

Some local children play in the street. Here they ware playing ropes and since it was funny I took a few pictures whom this portrait.

Bhaktapur is among the main touristic places around Katmandu and it worths it.

I was taking picture of the crowd from above this man. Of course I d like to have a pic of him but did not dare to ask because he seemed to be here like working and asking money for picture, which I refuse ( but I could be ok for long posing which is a real work). When he noticed me he urged me to take a pic of him. I was aware of the after pic money demanding but since I knew that people are not aggressive in Nepal I took the risk. I did 3 clicks just taking care to avoid the ugly bicycles on the background (finding the good background and light is always the harder for this kind of portrait). Of course he asked money and I answered politely in approximate Nepali that he should have tallen that before asking me. I was ready to erase the pic of course but hopefully he did not insisted and did not seem to care about it. I say hopefully because this guy has such a beautiful visage that he would deserve to be professional actor.
