Today crowds of tibetan people are making the Kora from early in the morning until late in the evening. Kora is a kind of meditative walk around stupa, monastries or holy mountains (like the Kailash). The most devotee ones make full body prosternations after every step. Non buddhist visitors (like many nepalis) can walk around with the pilgrims.
The original stupa was built in the sixth century. Badly damaged by 2015 earthquake, it is completely repaired today (2017). Tibetan merchants have rested and offered prayers here for many centuries. When refugees entered Nepal from Tibet in the 1950s, many decided to live around Boudhanath. The Stupa is said to entomb the remains of Kassapa Buddha

Picture taken down Annapurna South, between Chomrong and Sinuwa. Actually this animal crossing was not planned and a farmer sent the buffalos back before they could reach the over sode of the bridge.
Annapurna is famous for having been the first 8000m summit to be climbed by human (Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal, in heroic and crazy conditions). Today this area attracts the most trekkers since the lanscape is the most impressive of Nepal. This comes from the fact that the difference of heigh beetween the different summits and the ground basis very high. Based on that criteria, the valley betwwen Annapurna and Dhaulagiri is the deepest in the world. The main ethnic group who live today in this area are the Gurung.

PIcture taken from a guesthouse at top of Chhomrong.
Annapurna South called Annapurna Dakshin or Moditse, 7,219 m (23,684 ft), is easily visible from many points over the Annapurna massif. Its not the highest but the elevation from its summit and the bottom of the valley (the river between Chhomrong and Sinuwa), down chomrong, is around 4500 meters. The nearby mountain Hiunchuli is in fact an extension of Annapurna South.
