Crepuscular rays can be formed by shadows on thin fog or mist, here the dark hedge provides a good contrast for the sunlit fog. Although the rays appear to be diverging to the left it is easy to see that they are really travelling parallel with the narrow lane.
The leaves casting shadows are much further away than the pools of light at the end of the shafts of sunlight. Because of this perspective and the low sun the illusion of diverging rays is still strong.
'Het Speulderbos' is called ' the forest of the dancing trees'. The forest is not just mysterious, it is also very rare. It's a paradise for birds (of prey), deer, badgers and wild boars. So there is enough choice to have a good time!
