One day, the four young Baltimore Orioles who frequented my yard this summer (see yesterday's post) were accompanied by their dad. I only saw him once. Perhaps he approved of their choice of a feeding site and playground.

This is one of four young Baltimore Orioles, presumably siblings, who spent several weeks this summer visiting my yard daily. I think they must have come from a nest nearby. The four of them stuck together pretty closely throughout that time and didn't take a back seat to anyone, although they kept a close eye on the bees and wasps buzzing around the flowers. Flowers of Cup Plant in the distance provide background colour.

S/he popped into view and was gone again all within 10 seconds -- a lucky encounter with a bird that's a lifer for me. :o)

This young Green Heron is already an expert fisher. S/he had a little trouble getting this one down due to its size, but was eventually successful. I think that's a Northern Sunfish; please do correct me if I got that I.D. wrong.

...It certainly seems to be to many birds wanting to drink and bathe, this migrating Black and White Warbler among them.
