Only a few weeks before it's... tulip time again :) Hooray! As a teaser, here's a sunny tulip from 2019 which I've photographed at the Tulipan flower show at the Britzer Garten, Berlin's most beautiful public park. The lens responsible for this crazy bokeh is my vintage OM Zuiko Auto-S 50mm F1.4 lens. Judging from the "wild" bokeh shapes I must have taken this wide open. Stopped down a little, the bokeh becomes a tad more civilized before the bokeh balls turn into nice-looking "diamonds" at around F4.
Over the past few years, I have collected so many tulip photos from Britz alone that one might say it's enough for a lifetime, but on the other hand, you can't ever photograph too many flowers, tulips included, can you? Right :) So will I visit this year's Tulipan? You bet I will ;)
Have a nice spring (or autumn) week ahead, dear Flickr friends!

Not a ladybird which might have been a slightly more appropriate "supermodel" for International Women's Day because of its name, but an equally pretty Cryptocephalus bipunctatus. The whole supermodel thing is a relic of the past anyway, but unfortunately, we still haven't freed ourselves from questionable beauty "ideals" that often come across as beauty dictates. Social media and "influencers" don't make it any easier, especially not for the younger generation that is exposed (and exposes itself) to what one might call the "daily dose of beauty brainwash", recently taken to the next level with the all-new "beauty filters".
In Berlin (and in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, one of Germany's Northern federal states), March 8 is an official holiday, but not (yet?) in the other 14 of our 16 federal states. So this Wednesday – where all shops, schools, etc. are closed (and the weather is too ghastly to go outside – winter made a snowy-wet, cold reappearance) – feels like a very quiet, lazy Sunday, and I have too much time for writing rants instead of simply letting you enjoy this adorable, brightly orange beetle, a member of the so-called "Fallkäfer" (Cryptocephalinae) subfamily of the leaf beetle family. The name "Fallkäfer" (a beetle that falls or drops) derives from their distinctive habit of dropping abruptly when disturbed. This image also is a true oldie, I've taken it back in June 2017 at the beautiful public park Britzer Garten. The focus is ever so slightly off and more on the plant than on the beetle itself, but I think it's still sharp enough in general.
Wishing all of my female Flickr friends a Happy International Women's Day!

Another photo from Berlin's most beautiful public park, the Britzer Garten. Nearby this lake is the rose garden which at this time of year – "rose time of year" – is a joy to visit. And it so happens that the water lilies (which in German are called Seerosen – "lake roses") were blooming as well, and in this particular, slightly hidden spot there were a few red water lilies next to the abundance of white ones (although I'll readily admit that you don't see much of the aforementioned water lily abundance in this photo, but, well, they are there 😉).
Stay tuned for some true roses from the rose garden for this week's Friday Flora, and have a nice week, dear Flickr friends!

The main lake at the Britzer Garten which is one of Berlin's biggest and most beautiful public parks. On that photowalk, in June '21, I had brought along the Ricoh GRIII (with which this photo was taken), and the Olympus equipped with the 7-14mm zoom lens (you can find a photo taken with that combo in the first comment). Back then, I couldn't decide which photo I should upload first, and the Oly image "won". So now it's the GRIII's turn. For this image, I had used a filter from the NiSi Master Kit for the GRIII (the polarizer, if I remember correctly), a set of filters that consists of a camera adapter, a filter holder, and, of course, several filters. This is a single image that I've duly (over-)processed for Sliders Sunday by using this and that in Color Efex, Viveza, and ON1 Photo RAW, plus a few LR tweaks and slidings. I hope you like it, HSS :)
Dear Flickr friends, I can't say how much time I will have for Flickr in the next weeks. We're having massive water damage in our apartment which means that right now (and for the next weeks) everything here is a huge mess. I will certainly stop by on Flickr every day to check your photos, and I also hope that, once we're settled some more again, or time permits otherwise, I can also continue to take part in MMs, and also continue to upload once or twice a week... Well, let's see how it will be.
Have a nice week ahead, and take care!

Here's some fresh green (and orange) spring foliage for Freitagsblümchen to take a break from all the architecture. The image is another hard drive oldie, taken back in April 2018 at the Britzer Garten (please see my album).
Wishing you a Happy – and, especially for the people in Ukraine, peaceful – Easter (although I'm afraid that the latter won't happen all too soon). Take care!
