GR III #3: "GR" for GReen ;-) Another one from the (masked) family walk around one of Berlin's most beautiful lakes, the Krumme Lanke. Some lush green, before I'll continue with new architecture from Berlin's inner city (the "cube berlin") next week. I hope this isn't too
vivid and colourful, I know that on some monitors, and especially smartphone or tablet screens, this will probably look much brighter and very vivid, but on my monitor it's just right (yes, I know there are devices / methods for monitor / colour calibration, but... and it's also for Sliders Sunday, so...). Regarding the sliders, I HRDified this in Aurora HDR, tweaked the "Orton Clean" Glow filter in ON1 to my liking, and also tweaked the colours. As I'd mentioned in my description for my previous picture, I must have used "Highlight Weighted Metering" for all the photos I took on that walk, because the bright, sunny and cloudless sky was never blown out, and all the shadows and dark tones were way too dark, but as usual it's always easier to brighten the shadows and dark tones in post, and I was pleasantly surprised at the remarkably clean details and bright tones I was able to get out of the dark areas of the GR III's RAW files.

Happy Sliders Sunday, Everyone, stay safe, stay healthy :-)

GR III #2: This Wednesday I had my first "proper" photowalk with the tiny Ricoh, albeit a small walk with not too many photos (34 – almost like in the good old film days), because it was more of a family meeting at a small lake (we all wore masks) on the south-western outskirts of Berlin. I had decided to only take the Ricoh with me, in order to make myself a little more familiar with it. The shooting experience certainly is totally different from anything I know from my Olys or even the LX100, and I know that I will need some time to get used to it, but I also know already now that this camera is fun. OK, low light focus was very, very capricious (to say the least), but I also put that – and the fact that I missed quite a few shots – down on not having had figured the correct settings out, yet. I have now configured three different user presets (which, very conveniently, can be accessed via the mode dial), one for macro (not the GR III's designated purpose, I know, but macro is important for me), one for street (for starters, I've decided to experiment with Jpg only in order to check out the many film presets - you can even set up your own), and one for architecture / landscape, and I can't wait to go out again and take pictures ;-)

This photo is another kind of street image, because I found these remains of a birch tree at a residential street near by the above mentioned lake. The little oak sprout that obviously has found a new home within the birch stump caught my eye, I hope it will survive and transform the remnants of that once proud birch into an equally proud oak one day. The background had been a black car, not exactly what I'd call the perfect background, but when I imported the images I realised that the metering setting I should have used for my first Ricoh image posted here on Flickr – the flamingo / Pinoccio flower, please see the second comment, if you like – accidentally must have been my exposure metering setting for the entire walk around the lake: highlight weighted metering ;-) So it was easy to "disguise" the car and to process this image in claire obscure / chiaroscuro style. I hope you like it.

P.S. I know that an oak sprout is not a flower, but I hope that it looks flowery enough for Freitagsblümchen ;-) Happy weekend, dear Flickr friends!

The spider was so tiny that I did not even see it when I took the capture. Taken at the Krumme Lanke in Berlin-Grunewald. The Krumme Lanke (krumm = curved, because of the lake's shape) is a beautiful lake surrounded by woodland, and a popular bathing lake. Most of the lakeside is fenced, nowadays, to protect vegetation, and wildlife. I got very close to the screw (what you can see of it
was about 1,5 to 2 cm / 0,59 to 0,78 inches; the image is cropped).

Thank you for your kind comments, I appreciate every single one, and your faves! Vielen Dank für Eure tollen Kommentare und Faves!

A Happy Macro Monday, Everyone!

The Krumme Lanke (krumm = bent) is a popular swimming lake and excursion destination in the south-west of Berlin, part of the Grunewald forest, and of the Grunewald chain of lakes. Recently large parts of the lakeside were closed-off for the public for nature and wildlife protection. In the image you can see the remains of the wire fence that was built to keep people off the lakeside... the fence is destroyed in several places.

Happy Fence Friday, HFF!
