... And some of them trying to escape...

What? Honey, again? Well, not exactly, but a reflector I've found on the street. I was curious to see if candles would work for something that is actually triggered by headlights.
I'm late today, and this isn't the capture I originally wanted to upload for "Lit by Candlelight". That was... surprise! An angel head (found on the street, too), it looks nice, but... So many beautiful angels around here today ;-). So I had to try something different. I hope you like it. Oh, and this is centered, although the dark part (and again it looks very dark [too dark !] here on Flickr) seems to be wider. But it isn't.

Size: 2 x 2 cm (0,78 inches) Lightsource: 3 tealights

She's coming...

I found this as difficult as last year's Halloween-ish theme. While I really like a good scary movie, I do not have any real "Halloween" props, so I decided to illustrate the legend of "The White Lady", a ghost, all dressed in white, who is said to haunt the Grunewald Hunting Château, the Spandau Citadel, and, when it still existed, the Berlin Palace. "White Lady" legends, however, are known all around the world, and are usually associated with some kind of tragedy, or, in case of the "White Lady" from Berlin, some kind of injustice.

When I was done, however, the capture reminded me more of a scene from the movie "From Dusk Till Dawn". "My Wife"
( www.youtube.com/watch?v=73PRaUTVcbo ) by The Who also came to my mind.

I guess I'll leave it open to your interpretation ;-)

Lightsources: two tealights, and the red flashlight (no laser though!) of my keyring mini swiss knife.

Dawn at Mount Tuli | Dämmerung am Tuli

For Macro Monday's "Made of Metal"

A beautiful morning under a bright sun is dawning at Mount Tuli. Due to a constant inflow of fresh magma, Mount Tuli is one of the very few volcanos on earth with a persistent lava lake. Mt. Tuli is one of the most active volcanos on earth as well, yet is the most gentle of them (unlike Mt. Calvin in Hobbes country which is known for its violent eruptions).

Tuli is Finnish for fire. I named this little volcano "Tuli", because what you see is a detail of a hand-forged wrought-iron bracelet I bought at a Christmas market, many years ago, when I visited a dear friend in Helsinki, Finland. The bracelet is almost like a cuff and rather martial (there was a more slender version about half as wide as the one I bought, but my size was sold out) which is why it is more of an "objet d'art, something I prefer to look at (you can do so, too, you'll find a capture of it in the first comment).

Set-up: I placed the bracelet on top of a lid (brushed metal, slightly reflective) of a broken WMF spice mill which was placed on top of a porcelain box (happened to yield the right height), and placed it in front of my endless light tealight holder.

Lightsources: one tealight (multiplied by the endless light tealight holder); and a much improvised first attempt at indirect/reflected light for which I used an Ikea Jansjö clamp-on LED lamp and a pink candle, both placed to the right of the bracelet, and tealight holder; and aluminium foil (on the left) as a reflector.

The crater: one of the bracelet's holes (0,8 cm / 0,314961 inches in diameter). The lava lake: a reflection of the tealight (which served as the bright morning sun, too). The brushed metal of the spice mill lid which I placed the bracelet on nicely reflected the light from the tealight through the bracelets decorative hole. I wanted to do a focus stack first for more sharpness, but in order to get the lava lake reflection, I had to raise my table top tripod quite considerably which made it rather wobbly and unsteady.

Thank you for your kind comments, I appreciate every single one, and your faves! Vielen Dank für Eure tollen Kommentare und Faves!

A Happy Macro Monday everyone!

I wish you a happy first Sunday in Advent ;-) / Ich wünsche Euch einen schönen 1. Advent - and for everyone here who does not celebrate Advent: I wish you a very happy Sunday ;-)))

"Outtake" from The Macro Monday "Mysterious" theme. This is the same illuminated Christmas ball that made it to the final MM-photo, but I didn't find this capture mysterious enough, nice for Advent, however ;-).

The ball is about 12 cm / 4,72 inches in diameter and is illuminated by white fairy lights (a chain of lights with approximately 36 tiny bulbs, each bulb is as small as 1 cm / 0,39 inches, the visible part is roughly 5 mm / 0,19 inches long), shot in front of an endless light tea light holder.

By the way the caption is not meant as a comment about the "Beatles/Beetles" MM theme nor am I an ardent fan of The Stones, I just liked it ;-).

Now thank you for reading, enjoy your weekend ;-))) !

Yet another leaf, I know... ;-) I found this weeks' theme really challenging, though at first I thought it's a snap... well, it wasn't. My first idea did not work, at least not as a macro (again), and so I found myself stuck with this maple leaf. I put it in front of an "endless light" tealight holder, which also served as light source.

HMM, everyone ;-)!
