A subject I've already showcased several times here on Flickr: the beautiful Schloss Charlottenburg (Charlottenburg Palace), located in the Berlin borough of Charlottenburg – the castle was there first, so the borough was named after the castle, not the other way round. Charlottenburg Palace was built between 1695 and 1791 – in several construction phases – in baroque and rococo styles. From 1701 until 1888 it served as a summer residence for the Prussian kings. In 1697, the huge palace garden (of which you can see only a small part here) was designed by Siméon Godeau in French Baroque style, and later, in 1819, Peter Joseph Lenné redisigned the garden in English landscape style. The palace complex, which was severely damaged during the Second World War, was faithfully reconstructed through the personal efforts of West Berlin art historian Margarete Kühn. Since 1990, the entire ensemble is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This image, which I've photographed with the tiny Laowa "C-Dreamer" 7.5 ultra wide-angle lens, simply yelled for some slider action for Sliders Sunday, especially with those picture-perfect drama clouds that we'd had on that sunny day back in May '19. It may be a little too much on the colourful side, but for me, monochrome (or a more desaturated look) didn't work here. I tried both, also several tintings, but wasn't really happy with either.
HSS, Everyone, and stay safe and healthy!

The classic. A photographer photographing photographers :-) The weather was fine on that day, so there were many tourists (and Berliners) visiting the Charlottenburg Castle. The tourists here were part of a small tour group, and a few of them were posing in front of the Equestrian statue of Friedrich Wilhelm I, and since they were pretty persistent (and I have photographed the main entrance of the palace so many times before) I decided to include them. Clumsy attempt at street / candid photography number two :-)
Please zoom in so you can see the fun that lady with the white hat had with posing for her fellow traveller :-)

Castle garden of the Charlottenburg Palace. Processed in ON1 Photo RAW 2019 using a preset ("Photomorphis Secret Sauce") which I then tweaked to my liking.
Happy Sliders Sunday, Everyone :-)
Charlottenburg Palace was originally commissioned by Sophia Charlotte of Hanover (1668 - 1705). She was the first Queen consort in Prussia, after her husband, the former Elector of Brandenburg
(Frederick III), crowned himself the first Prussian King Frederick I in 1701. Sophia Charlotte and Frederick founded a famous dynasty of Prussian kings with their son Frederick William I, also known as "Soldier King", and their grandson, Frederick II, also known as Frederick the Great.
The original name of the palace, which was inaugurated in 1699, and which was used by Sophia Charlotte as a permanent residence, was "Lietzenburg" (Burg = castle), as it was built on the grounds of what then was the small village of Lietzow which was located 7 kilometers from Berlin. After Sophia Charlotte's untimely death on 1 February 1705 at the age of only 36, King Frederick I (re)named the castle and the adjoining village of Lietzow "Charlottenburg"
in her honour. Today Charlottenburg is, together with Wilmersdorf ("Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf"), one of Berlin's 12 boroughs.
Charlottes Garten

Borrowed the title from charhedman. The title seemed so obvious and suitable for this one, too ;-)
Fortuna on top of the roof of the Charlottenburg Palace as seen from the backside / garden. After doing the regular processing I checked out the new "Old Photo" effect of LR Classic's latest version and was quite pleased that it added a nice vintage touch without taking away the photo's sunny glow. The sky was as blue and cloudless as in my previous sparrow on conifer capture from that place (please see first comment).

Spitzentanz

7DWF, Saturdays: Fauna
No bunny or egg for Easter, but a simple fun snapshot of two sparrows taken at the garden of the Charlottenburg Castle on Good Friday, when the sun showed up in the afternoon. This evergreen conifer was the only green, yet, all the other trees and shrubs are still leafless. And no egg? Wait a minute, the birds are very busy already, and there was one sparrow snugly sitting in the conifer (didn't look into my direction unfortunately), and one sitting on top of it, both merrily chirping away. Eggs in the making, if you don't mind me saying so. Soon there will be many baby sparrows (and other birds - the great tit couple that was nesting on my balcony last year is back, too), and nature will explode once it's getting warmer.
A Happy Easter to you all!
