I ran a few errands this afternoon and picked up these tulips as a little spring "pick-me-up". It is still so cold out there. I sure hope spring will be coming soon. In the meantime, I will do what I can to bring spring to me. :)

I was kind of stuck on what to take for my 365 photo for today. The tulips I bought last week are beginning to wilt so I decided to take one more photo of them before they are gone for good. I used the natural light by the window and was trying to focus more on the center of the tulip. Although it is not as clear as I would have liked, overall I really liked the colour and softness of the rest of photo. :)

Hi everyone. Sorry I have not been posting these last few days but I was out of town for my uncles funeral. Sadly, he passed away from cancer. :( It was quite sudden...he was diagnosed in November with a tumor in his lung (didn't smoke) and lasted only about three months. I really hate cancer. I don't even like the word cancer. I don't know anyone who doesn't hate the disease but it seems to be taking all of my loved ones one by one...
I will be catching up on this 365 of mine and will be visiting your streams soon.

We are going to a funeral this afternoon for my Aunt Terry. Actually, she was my husbands aunt but she was such a sweet woman I was proud to call her my aunt as well; and she treated my like her own niece too. Gary doesn't have much extended family so the loss of Aunt Terry is hitting his family pretty hard. The start of my 2014 has been rather challenging one due to the loss of loved ones, family commitments and personal stuff. With the long hard winter and daily challenges it has sometimes been hard to stay positive and cheery all the time. It is downright depressing some days. Winter weather can leave you feeling low at times but I have to say it has been very comforting to have you all on my side; by saying that I mean seeing your kind words and encouraging comments you leave behind on my stream for me really makes me feel better. I realize we all have rough moments, it is a part of life, but being open about my feelings and sharing them on my daily 365 isn't always easy but I have decided to do that because of this project. I would be lying if I said every day was picture perfect. I wish! But it isn't. We all have good days and bad days but it is who we have in our lives to show us the love, friendship and support we need that help get us through the rough patches that make each day much easier. I know I can count on my family and even my Flickr friends like you to do that. Your comments and encouragement on a daily basis mean more to me than you can imagine and for that I am very grateful. Thank you. xo :)

I love how my kitchen faces the east so every morning I get to enjoy how the sun shines through my kitchen window...it really helps to start my day off right. :) Such was the case this morning...it wasn't overly sunny but even just the natural light coming in was enough to make these tulips look bright and pretty and for me to think "ok, just one more picture"...I hope you don't mind another shot of them. :))
