Built alongside the Nervion River and designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry, this building is one of the most admired works of contemporary architecture. It is intended to resemble a ship with its brilliantly reflective titanium panels resembling fish scales. The use of computer-aided design technology enabled the architect to translate irregular curved forms into reality. The resulting space inside the building is unlike any form seen before.

I designed the building for Hong Kong, to respond to the unique conditions of the city. You wouldn’t build this anywhere else - Frank Gehry.

Opus Hong Kong, consisting of 12 luxury residential units, turns as it rises giving each apartment a unique floor plan and a distinct vista of the city below and the hills surrounding. The apartments, measuring 560 to 640 sq. m., each sold for US$60+ million.

320,000 bricks, including five types that were custom-made for the building, have been intricately corbelled to achieve the building’s remarkable fluid skin. Master bricklayer Peter Favetti came out of retirement to work with his son and the bricklayers of his business on the project.
