A visit to Mount Tomah Botanic Garden is like travelling the botanic world within the comfort of 28 hectares of beautifully landscaped grounds.

Last month was the end of autumn. I had missed the peak of autmn colours by about two weeks when visiting this garden.

Last weeks of autumn - going back 2 months that is.
Maple trees on the left and native gum trees on the right - import vs local?
Classical vanishing point - may be.

Cold causes maple trees to explode by freezing the sap which contains water that expands as it freezes, creating a sound like a gunshot. The sound is produced as the tree bark splits, with the wood contracting as the sap expands. Native eucalyptus trees are known to explode during bush fires due to the high flammability of vaporised eucalyptus oil produced by the tree naturally........Wikipedia

Mount Wilson is a village in the Greater Blue Mountains famous for its superb English-style gardens and tree-lined avenues. It is 100 km west of Sydney and has a population of around 220 people. It is now a village for the wealthy. Its cool, misty climate and soil conditions are ideal for the recreation of England in a foreign land.

At certain times of year you would be forgiven for thinking you had stumbled into the Garden of Eden. In the Autumn months, this place is full of colour and texture. In winter you may get to see snow. In summer, take a break from the Sydney heat.

But beware there are no shops, petrol stations or medical services. Public toilets are also limited........Welcome to Mount Wilson
