Domestic commitments had prevented me from attending this light festival until last Friday, two days before it ended. And boy the city was crowded. Here the moon was on the rise behind the second sail.

This was the title of Sydney Morning Herald's Friday article on VIVID SYDNEY, a festival of light, music and ideas. This year's events will last 3.5 weeks from 27 May to 21 June.
As the Opera House lights went on, so did immensive projections onto seven prominent buildings along the Macquarie Street area, from St. Mary's Cathedral and Hyde Park Barracks to Parliament House, the State Library and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Silver reflections in the harbour came from a full moon. We had a lucky break without rain for a change. It was bucketing down all week.

In 2009 over 200,000 Sydneysiders and visitors enjoyed Brian Eno’s Lighting the Sails, and images of Eno’s sails were seen by more than 60 million people worldwide. This year VIVID SYDNEY co-curator Laurie Anderson is putting her own mark on Jørn Utzon’s iconic sails.
Organisers had to replace some of the drenched projectors due to heavy rain.
