The Pen y Gwryd is a popular, well-established pub/hotel. It claims to be the "Home of British Mountaineering". Over the years famous mountaineers have signed the ceiling in one of the bars, Including Sir John Hunt, leader of the successful 1953 Everest expedition who reached the summit 72 years ago today!
