THE BELL AND THE BLACKBIRD

The sound
of a bell

Still
reverberating,

or a blackbird
calling

from a corner
of the field,

Asking you
to wake

into this life,

or inviting you
deeper

into the one
that waits.

Either way
takes courage,

either way wants you
to be nothing

but that self that
is no self at all,

wants you
to walk

to the place
where you find

you already know
how to give

every last thing
away.

The approach
that is also

the meeting
itself,

without any
meeting

at all.

That radiance

you have always
carried with you

as you walk

both alone
and completely
accompanied

in friendship
by every corner

of the world
crying

Allelujah

"Man könnte Spiegelung und Resonanz als das Gravitationsgesetz lebender Systeme bezeichnen." - Joachim Bauer, Warum ich fühle, was Du fühlst (2005). In: Vorwort zu "Wie wir werden, wer wir sind. Die Entstehung des menschlichen Selbst durch Resonanz". (BLESSING, 2019).

Your poems
like autumn dew
Wash illusionary flowers
from my eyes

Light
as a hair tip
heavy as a mountain

No use covering your ears
_sudden thunder

One roosters cry
preaches
the heaven and earth dawn

Seeing illusion
but not recognizing it
It collapses
of itself

Watch it and take it
right now
or it is gone
for a thousand years

Ride your horse along
the edge of the sword
Hide yourself
in the midst of flames

Words,
words, words
fluttering drizzle and snow

Silence,
silence, silence
a roaring thunderbolt

Chase a fierce tiger
riding a blind donkey

(A Zen Forest: Sayings of the Masters .
Translated by Sōiku Shigematsu .
Forword by Gary Snyder)

SELF PORTRAIT & THE OPENING OF EYES (DAVID WHYTE)

It doesn’t interest me

if there is one God
Or many gods.

I want to know

if you belong —
or feel abandoned;

If you know
despair

Or can see it in others.

I want to know

If you are prepared to live
in the world

With its harsh need
to change you;

If you can look back
with firm eyes

Saying

“this is
where I stand.”

I want to know
if you know

How to melt
Into that fierce

heat of living

Falling toward the center
of your longing.

I want to know

if you are
willing

To live day by day
With the consequence of love

And the bitter unwanted
passion
Of your sure defeat.

I have been told

In that fierce
embrace

Even the gods
Speak of God

THAT day

I
saw

beneath dark clouds,
the passing light
over the water

and I heard
the voice

of the world speak out,

I knew then,
as I had before,

life
is no passing memory
of what has been

nor the remaining pages
in a great book

waiting to be read.

It is the opening of eyes
long closed.

It is the vision
of far off

things
seen for the silence
they hold.

It is the heart
after years

of secret
conversing,

speaking out loud
in the clear air.

It is Moses
in the desert

Fallen
to his knees

before the lit bush.

It is the man
throwing away his shoes

As if
to enter heaven

and finding himself

astonished,

Opened
at last,

Fallen
in love

With solid
ground
.
