Belton House is a Grade I Listed Carolean style country house in the parish of Belton near Grantham in Lincolnshire, built between 1685 and 1687 by Sir John Brownlow, 3rd Baronet. It's said to be the only truly vernacular style of architecture that England had produced since the Tudor period. It is surrounded by 1300 acres of exquisite gardens with views across pleasure grounds and ancient deer park. Belton is one of the county’s finest cultural attractions.
Neo-classical alterations were made in the 18th century and early 19th century; however in the 1870s, the 3rd Earl Brownlow decided to restore the house to its original splendour and commissioned some remarkable neo-Caroline interiors.
In 1984 the owners were hit by financial difficulties, including the Death Tax, and decided to donate the house, with most of its contents, to the National Trust.

This huge ornate tree was very distinctive and caught my eye. I'm sure it will look even better during the summer months. I guess its a few hundred years old.

Note: This is a recent photo of mine, edited to look old style as it may have done back in the day.
