Rufford Abbey dates back to 1147. The English Pope, Adrian IV gave the blessing for the abbey in 1156. It's a Grade I Listed Building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
Now owned by English Heritage. A very popular visitor attraction all year round, with the lake, woodland and Ice House.
