This morning was the time to assess the damage done by the hurricane-like winds blowing in this area two nights ago. I had been keeping an eye on the Tawny Frogmouths nest for more than a month, visiting unfrequently, just in case they might not like me being there. Now I was really worried and I had to check. What a joy - the nest not only survived the damaging winds but the father was sheltering the baby. I took several shots and when they both looked at me, I knew I had to go. Oh happy day!

Two adult Eurasian Coots were taking care of one chick each. This pair went into a shaded area of the pond and the little one was glowing like a fluffy nugget.
