A mallard hen sits in her nest in the National Garden under the Firecracker Flower sign near the sidewalk. Hopefully passing pedestrians will have enough sense to give her enough space.

A mallard hen sits in her nest in the National Garden just a couple of feet from the sidewalk. Mallard eggs take around 23-30 days to hatch.

It's been almost week since I learned of this mallard sitting in her nest. Still no sign of ducklings!

Sarah and I are calling her Petunia. ;)

A mallard hen continues to incubate her eggs in the U.S. Botanic Garden's National Garden. I've been watching her for more than a week, but I don't know when she laid her eggs, so I can't predict the expected hatching date. Hopefully it will be soon.

Sarah and I are calling her Petunia.

Someone left Petunia a water dish so she doesn't have to go far to re-hydrate.
