Could be my last osprey (Pandion haliaetus) pic of the season, as they migrate to much warmer climes for the winter.

UPDATE: turns out there are still ospreys around in late-October. They were pretty much all gone this time last year.

A red-winged blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus) harasses a much larger osprey (Pandion haliaetus) perched on a dead tree. The pic is a bit out-of-focus because of distance and background clutter fooling the autofocus.

When I got to Roosevelt Island for a shoot on 4/13, I noticed a pair of ospreys (Pandion haliaetus) carrying building materials for a nest. I followed them down to Little Island, where I found a nest high up on top of a dead tree.
