White Admiral (Limenitis arthemis arthemis) egg as found on Black Cherry.
Kerr Park, Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada.
June 24, 2018.
I followed a White Admiral around for a while, since she was clearly in egg-laying mode. Most of her eggs were laid out of reach, but not this one! :-)
Admiral butterflies always lay their eggs at the very tip of the leaf.

My father always called these "Banded Purples". Took me decades to get used to "White Admirals"...and I still default to Banded Purple now and then. ;-)

I don't see White Admirals nectar on flowers very often. I have seen them visit Sumac flowers...
