The sign on old US 66 was erected in 1953. I first photographed the sign in 2010 (see below) The sign aged gracefully over the years. One notable change is that the "ball" at the top of the post in the 2010 photograph was not there in 2023. The ball was originally the mark, "AAA", for the American Automobile Association.

Tropical Acres is a steakhouse in Dania Beach, FL. The sign is located along U.S. Highway 1 at Old Griffin Rd. Not only was the restaurant established in 1949, but the sign was apparently put up that year as well. (Source: www.browardpalmbeach.com/best-of/2001/arts-and-entertainm... )
The arrows on either side of "2 Miles" is relatively new. Originally, those arrows weren't there. Instead there was a red arrow portion of the sign at the top with the words Steak House, but this part of the sign was hurt by Hurricane Wilma. On the other side of the bottom part with "Est. 1949" says "Welcome to Dania Beach"
