This is from my massive backlog - this event took place in December 2011. The Polar Plunge is a fund raising event for Special Olympics where a bunch of brave (and foolhardy) people jump into Goose Lake in Anchorage. I remember this day as being very cold (in the teens?) and windy; not a great day to be in the water. Alaskans are tough and the jumpers raised a lot of money - I think $388,000 - not bad for a small city. Most people had fun in spite of the weather - it is just part of living in the Last Frontier!!
