Thank God, finally the wait is over after multiple unsuccessful trips. A small elusive bird that is rarely seen in Asia (unless you are visiting bird hides).

Location: Peninsular Malaysia.
Distribution: Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand.
IUCN Red List: Near Threatened

Etymology: The specific name oculea is a reference to the Latin oculus for eyes, meaning that it was full of eyes or dotted with coloured spots (see pic).

Description:
The ferruginous partridge (Caloperdix oculeus) is a species of bird in the family Phasianidae. It belongs to the monotypical genus Caloperdix.
Flamboyantly plumaged with pumpkin-orange head and breast, brown wings, and smart black-and-white scaling on back and sides. The ferruginous partridge measures from 27 to 32 cm (11–13 in) in length and weighs between 191–230 g (6.7–8.1 oz).

Calls: A loud series of accelerating whistles that eventually collapses into harsh, coarse notes, as though its voice had broken.

Habitat: Lowlands and middle-elevation forests, where it can be difficult to see as it forages on the ground, typically singly or in pairs.

Wallace FF is a tree frog found in Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Southern Thailand and Borneo.

This species is one of the largest Rhacophorid averaging from 80-100mm (males are smaller than females). All fingers are fully webbed to discs and toes discs are smaller than finger discs. The body color is bright green with minute white spots and a couple large white patches on the thighs and the undersurfaces of the body are yellow.

During breeding season their eggs are laid in the foam and covered with seminal fluid before the foam hardens into a protective casing. In some species, this is done in a large group or communal mating. The foam is laid above a water source so the tadpoles fall into the puddle of water once they hatch.

Also known as Golden-headed Tree Babbler. It has olive-green wings and yellow underparts. Its crown and nape are golden-yellow with narrow stripes. It is 19-12 cm long and weighs 6-10 g.

Stachyris chrysaea was the scientific name proposed by Edward Blyth in 1844 who described an olivaceous babbler with a yellow crown from Nepal.

Distribution: From foothills of the Eastern Himalayas to Southeast Asia and inhabits subtropical lowland and montane forests.

IUCN Redlist: Least Concern because of its wide distribution.
