Upon my arrival at Hosmer Grove, I discovered my very first Northern Cardinal at the entrance to the trail. He flew into the tree and stayed up higher than I had wanted. I waited patiently and he came down eye level and rested inside this opening. He gave me great close up full frame shots!! That was it after that chance as he kept himself higher in the surrounding trees. A treat for those of us who have never seen one. They are stunning!
