Authorship of Volume One of the memoirs has been attributed to Felix Salten, better known as the author of Bambi. Volume Two is thought to be "in the style" of Salten, but not written by him. The manuscript of Volume Two was discovered in the rubble of a bombed-out basement in Vienna after WWII.
