Lake Superior, Michigan

Featured on Flickr Explore Front Page - June 23, 2010 - Best Position #24

I didn't get much of a response in my previous post of this image as a 2:1 panoramic crop so I have decided to post the original square version. I think it's due to the size in which Flickr displays the image and thumbnails, or maybe it's just not a very interesting image. Nonetheless, I really like the 2:1 panoramics when viewed larger and when printed but maybe not so much on Flickr.

FP Explore ;) Thanks !

Big fat rain storm blocking out the setting sun. Technically the most challenging picture I've processed to date.

This is a narrow strip of land between the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal and the Severn estuary which, threatened by the ravages of the tide, was bolstered by the canal company using old boats to strengthen the bank. Several dozen old wooden, metal and concrete craft were dumped here in the 1950s.

What were once abandoned hulks are now a facinating piece of waterway history and a dinosaurs’ graveyard of Britain’s maritime past
