The southern range of the Sierra Nevada mountains with Lone Pine Peak and it's big brother, Mt Whitney with some of the Alabama Hills in the foreground but the scene stealer are the high clouds above them. This is what makes it difficult to get a good sunset shot on the eastern side, because without those clouds in the sky, the light would have most likely been flat and the sky unappealing. That's why sometimes it pays to be lucky.

More formally known as the Farmer's Pond.
This pond was made famous and a must go to location for California landscape photographer's like myself. I can remember the first time I saw Galen Rowell's photo of it in his Mountain Light Gallery that he had just opened before his tragic death in an airplane crash. I have gone out to this spot numerous times and have walked it's banks seeking new and different compositions each time. With the Sierra Nevada mountains providing a dramatic backdrop, this spot is one of my favorites locations in the eastern Sierra Nevada mountains even though technically its not in the Sierra Nevada to me it warrants its inclusion.
