"VIRM trains, full name Verlengd InterRegio Materieel (Lengthened interregional rolling stock), are a series of electric multiple unit (EMU) double-deck trains operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen or NS (Dutch Railways), the principal railway operator in the Netherlands. NS has 178 of these double-deckers – 98 four-carriage sets, and 80 six-carriage sets. The trains were built between 1994 and 2009 – for the most part by Talbot, part of Bombardier Inc., with some railcars built by De Dietrich.

Taken 22/09/19; When we are abroad Mrs. G' prefers me to be 'on point' with directions rather than snapping transport, so many photographic opportunities slip by. Friday's sightseeing left us a bit jaded, but I managed to sneak out before breakfast the following day get a few snaps. In an ideal world I wouldn't have chosen an earlyish location facing south and looking down on the overhead wires and gantries!

Taken 22/09/19; As before, in an ideal world I wouldn't have chosen an earlyish location facing south and looking down on the overhead wires and gantries! There is a lot more variety passing through Sloterdijk than VIRM units, including loco hauled trains, but my short pre-breakfast spell with a camera coincided with only double deckers passing!

Taken 22/09/19; I do wonder had I have taken this one at Euston, given the gantry arm across the front of the unit, if I would have uploaded it. However, given the relative novelty of these units to me, upload it I have!

Taken 22/10/18; just south of Sloterdijk Station is this line of ex- Swiss sleeping carriages that are in use as a Hostel.
