Taken on 27/04/18 a particularly gloomy day; despite cranking up the ISO to 800 it is a murky scene. The Great Britain is a nine day rail tour around the UK that reached Kyle in Scotland and Llandrindod in Wales amongst numerous other points. I really should have made time yesterday to have gone to Wareham to see the penultimate leg which worked to Swanage top and tailed by No. 45212 and U Class Mogul 2-6-0 No. 31806 (and if I had I would have enjoyed better light). Today's leg saw the tour head from Swanage to the final destination of London Victoria.
Taken, slightly more front on than I might have wanted due to the Sun, on 26/07/18. The London Victoria to Weymouth summer steam workings are back, albeit on a fortnightly basis this year. It might be my nerdiness but it strikes me as odd that an A4 is gracing the L&SWR mainline whilst a Bulleid Merchant Navy (No. 35018) is doing the rounds in Yorkshire. Not that I'm complaining!
Taken 09/08/18 from Bridge 31/Guss Road Bridge with Lyndhurst Road Bridge in the background.
Taken 14/08/18 and I've done my best to hide the WCRC Class 47 under the road bridge. The topped and tailed combination of No. 60009 and 47-580 is becoming a feature of the summer of 2018. Oh and no, I've no idea where the Cathedral is in Weymouth..
Taken 23/08/18, but not one of my better efforts.
Footnote 25/08/18
I now understand 47-580 (which would have worked as the train engine on the up DCE as far as Southampton) failed at Weymouth and 33-012 came from Swanage to cover the re-timed return DCE from Weymouth at 19.36. No. 60009 came off at Southampton and returned at 21:15 to Southall. No. 47-580 is still at Weymouth with recovery likely to be on 28/08/18.
