Taken 02/09/15; On the way back out of Bristol I popped into Filton Abbey Wood Station for a quick look round. Not only is there a lack of infrastructure to snap (the most significant structure is the footbridge I took this picture from, but also passenger services were subject to delay, so there wasn't a lot to photograph. However, an edited description of the station from Wiki:
"There are three active platforms: platform 1 is the easternmost, separated from platforms 2 and 3, which share an island, by two running lines. Platform 1 is for southbound trains ... platform 2 is for northbound trains towards Bristol Parkway, but can be used by trains towards South Wales. Platform 3 is for northbound trains towards South Wales.
Facilities at the station are minimal - there are metal and glass shelters on each platform, and some seating. A small ticket office operates on platform 1 on weekday afternoons, but there are no other facilities for buying tickets and the station is generally unstaffed.*"
*During my visit ticket sales were by FGW revenue protection staff on the footbridge.
This is the third station in the locality, replacing Filton Junction which in turn replaced Filton. A brief timeline:
1864: Filton Station opened (just north the site of the current Filton Abbey Wood). No traces remain of this station.
1903; Filton closed and a new station, Filton Junction, opened a few hundred yards to the north. The old platforms can apparently still be seen.
1996; With the Ministry of Defence procurement division consolidating into a major office development in Filton (MoD Abbey Wood) a new station was built in Filton, primarily to serve the MoD workers. The station, named Filton Abbey Wood, opened in 1996 and has seen dramatically increased passenger numbers.

Taken 02/09/15; As a non-local it seems slightly surprising that buses no longer make the short trip off of the A4174 up to Filton Abbey Wood station.
