"Murder on The Grand Union Canal"

The headless body of a small Teddy Bear was found by a member of the public frozen in the ice of the Grand Union Canal at Weedon, Northamptonshire. Because of the cold weather it has been hard for forensic scientists to determine the exact time of death but a police spokeswoman said the body has been dead at least 24 hours prior to it being found on Monday afternoon.

A section of the canal has been roped off as a crime scene and boats and people have been stopped from passing for the unforescene future. Police said that all boats passing on the Weedon section of the canal are being contacted as well as cast of both footprints and paw prints being made from prints left in the icy towpath.

The identity of the body is also hampered due it's missing head. The police are stepping up search parties to locate it but they say that it could be some miles away by now carried by a passing canal boat. The only clues given by the police is a red T shirt with the words "I Simply Love You" written in it.

The spokeswoman said that the police are appealing to the public for anyone who knows anything about this to call them on...999..

Little Mary Brown, age 9 and accompanied by her mother, of Church Street in the village said "How could anyone do such a horrible thing to a poor loving teddy". You could tell she was very chocked up over the matter.
