Today Sally and I took a morning stroll in Maidford Wood near Canons Ashby. It was just above freezing but the sun felt warm.

WHAT FOLLOWS IS A POLITICAL ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL ENGLISH CITIZENS

You may not be aware that the present government has proposed to sell off many if not all of England's forest to private individuals such as money bankers and to commercial institutions. These woodlands are a valuable asset to this country and never more so then now as the countryside is being eaten by huge housing and commercial estates. Generations have for centuries recognized their worth to both the country and to the people. Even in the hardest of times, such as wars, depressions, recessions etc. woodlands like The "New Forest" have been considered as precious as the crown jewels. Why now has the government decided that for short term monetary gains it even has a right to sell off these woodlands that belong to all of use.

Some of you may have already heard about this but if you haven't signed the partitions will you please do so now. Joel
