The Cromwell Fruit Sculpture was erected by the Rotary Club of Cromwell and has become the town's icon. Built in 1989, the four fruits (pear, apple, nectarine and apricot) weigh over nine tonne, are 13 metres high, and have been repainted three times.
Cromwell is the service centre for an extensive farming and stone fruit growing area. It is between State Highway 6 (linking to Wanaka, 50 km north, and Queenstown, 60 km west) and State Highway 8B leading to the Lindis Pass, 75 km northeast, and Alexandra, 33 km south.

Jeune Fille au Chapeau Fleuri (Young Girl with Flowered Hat) is a portrait of Rodin's common-law wife, Rose Beuret, when she was young. This terra-cotta sculpture is found at the Musée Rodin in Paris, and is an early work of Rodin's.
Rodin spent some early years of his adulthood in Belgium, and this is where he met Rose Beuret. They lived together for many years (having several children together), into their old age, and married only when Rose was nearing death in the last years of her life. Their relationship was touched by Rodin's constant dalliances with models, and by his love affair with Camille Claudel. (sourced from Camille Claudel & Auguste Rodin website created by Judith Chabot)
The Musée Rodin in Paris, France, is a museum that was opened in 1919, primarily dedicated to the works of the French sculptor Auguste Rodin. It has two sites: the Hôtel Biron and surrounding grounds in central Paris, as well as just outside Paris at Rodin's old home, the Villa des Brillants at Meudon, Hauts-de-Seine.
This image was taken at the one in Hôtel Biron. It is a work of youth by Rodin, while he was working under the direction of the eclectic sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse, whose influence is felt in this bust of a young girl with a decorative character, especially with this inclined hat decorated with flowers and the undulating lines of the garment as well as hair that print a movement and an animation of neo-baroque inspiration. The girl's gaze – the eyes dug – gives a certain presence to the work and announces a disturbing modernity, although this result results from cooking accidents. (wikipedia)

This was taken during the Rim Walk upon reaching the top of the Canyon. Below, in the Kings Canyon ravine are large fallen rock slabs. The South Wall, a steep vertical cliff about 100 metres high, looks beautiful in the warm Spring morning light.
Kings Canyon is a canyon in the Northern Territory of Australia located at the western end of the George Gill Range about 323 km southwest of Alice Springs and about 1,316 km south of Darwin within the Watarrka National Park.
From the Visitor Centre, a steep climb at the beginning of the walk, which locals call "Heartbreak Hill" (or "Heart Attack Hill", due to its steepness), takes visitors up to the top, with views of the gorge below and of the surrounding landscape. About half way during the walk, a detour descends to the Garden of Eden, a permanent waterhole surrounded by plant life. The last half of the walk passes through a maze of weathered sandstone domes, reminiscent of the Bungle Bungle. A slow descent brings the visitor back to the starting point. (Wikipedia) (Wikipedia)

Hanging Rock (also known as Mount Diogenes, Dryden's Rock, and to some of its traditional owners as Ngannelong) is a distinctive geological formation in central Victoria, Australia. A former volcano, it lies 718m above sea level (105m above plain level) on the plain between the two small townships of Newham and Hesket, approximately 70 km north-west of Melbourne and a few kilometres north of Mount Macedon.
Hanging Rock is a mamelon, created 6.25 million years ago by stiff magma pouring from a vent and congealing in place. Often thought to be a volcanic plug, it is not. Two other mamelons exist nearby, created in the same period: Camels Hump, to the south on Mount Macedon and, to the east, Crozier's Rocks. All three mamelons are composed of soda trachyte. As Hanging Rock's magma cooled and contracted it split into rough columns. These weathered over time into the many pinnacles that can be seen today.
This was taken on a fine winter afternoon. Spotted this moss smitten boulder while walking along the base of Hanging Rock.
