Peggys Point Lighthouse, also known as Peggys Cove Lighthouse, is an active lighthouse and an iconic Canadian image. Located within Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, it is one of the busiest tourist attractions in the province and is a prime attraction on the Lighthouse Trail scenic drive. Of the 164 strong lighthouses in Nova Scotia, this is one of the most photographed places in Canada. Established in 1868, it has a white octagonal reinforced-concrete tower with red aluminium octagonal lantern, fixed green light, and is 15.2 metres high. It has a range of 10 nautical miles (19km). The huge granite boulders under and around the lighthouse is a beautiful combination in the landscape.

This was taken from a side-backlit position. The sun is slightly at a lower altitude, and is warmer in colour. This lighthouse overlooks the mouth of St. Margaret's Bay. Further beyond and below is Atlantic Ocean. Here the signalling light has just turned red (rotated in my position).

Whalers Bluff Lighthouse is a lighthouse on Whalers Bluff, also known as Whalers Point, in the regional city of Portland in the Western District of the state of Victoria in Australia. It stands about 1.5 km north of the city centre and overlooks Portland's harbour. It is operated by the Victorian Channels Authority, part of the Port of Melbourne Corporation.

The Whaler's Bluff Lighthouse guides vessels past the treacherous Whaler's Reef into the Portland Harbour. The red lantern tower is the focus of the scenery in the warm morning summer light.

Brief history:-
The Whalers Bluff Lighthouse was originally erected with keeper's quarters on Battery Point in 1859 and was know as the Portland Bay Lighthouse.
It was first lit in that year.
The lantern is catadioptric made in England.
The lighthouse relocated, stone by stone, to it's current position on North Bluff (now Whaler's Bluff) in 1889 to make way for gun emplacements on Battery Point.

Another reason given for the relocation was that it was less vulnerable to attack on Whaler's Bluff.

Elevation : 41 metres
Tower height : 12 metres
Range : 28 kilometres.

Captured this mushroom shaped lighthouse on a coach travelling at speed, shortly after leaving Sol Beach Resort along the east coast of South Korea. Apparently the breakwater is a nice spot for fishing. Beyondf the horizon is Sea of Japan. The spot-light effect on the lighthouse is serendipitous. The name of the lighthouse is possibly "Sinnam Light" in Park Side.

Nobbys Head Light is an active lighthouse on Nobbys Head, a headland on the south side of the entrance to Newcastle Harbour, New South Wales, Australia.

The first beacon in the area was an open coal fire set on Signal Head, with a range of 7 km. This was changed in 1821 to a large metal device burning oil, which was visible for 12 km, but shortly reverted to coal as the oil system was not reliable. By 1846 Nobbys Head, originally a small islet more than 60 metres high, was connected to the mainland with a causeway. The island was reduced in height to improve the sailing conditions and to accommodate a lighthouse and signal station, built in 1858. The lighthouse was designed by Alexander Dawson, the New South Wales Government Architect. The original light had an intensity of 20,000 cd and was attended by three lighthouse keepers. In 1934 the light was electrified and automated. The current light source is an 120-electronvolt (19 aJ) 1,000-watt (1.3 hp), quartz halogen lamp and the power source is mains electricity with a diesel generator as backup. Currently at the site are three one-story keeper's houses, a three-story signal station, and other buildings housing the port watch.
