I was sitting quietly on the shoreline early one morning waiting for a distant Common Loon to approach. I noticed something run by me. It was an American Mink.

It realised that I was sitting there and after a few seconds it ran back to shore. A few minutes later it got up enough nerve to ss me again and headed out to the end of a point of rocks. It dove underwater a couple of times and then came up with this large crayfish.

It ran past me again with its breakfast and I was fortunately enough to catch a couple of photos before it disappeared.

When I came across this cow moose coming towards me on the trail I didn't know if she had a calf with her or not but moose can be defensive mothers.
As moose are near-sighted I gently spoke to her to let her know that I was there. I waited patiently and let her choose what to do next. As it turned out there was no calf. She calmly walked off of the trail and into the pond to begin feeding again.
I took some more images of her and then moved on.

As it turned out she was the first of 14 moose that I would see during our first camping trip to the park this year.
