The Common Myna is - similar to the Javan Myna I posted yesterday - a widely introduced species in many countries but contrary to the Javan Myna was most likely was an original inhabitant of Singapore. There it now is almost a bit rare. While you can probably find them on any given day, the likelihood of seeing a Javan myna first is much higher. The common myna has a remarkable feature in its eye color, where a set of “stars” surrounds the pupils. There has been little study to the background of these stars but a paper from 2015 describes that the occurrence of these stars is higher during breeding season, whereas in non-breeding season the irises usually are more grayish without stars. Found this bird close to Kranji Station in the North of the Island.
