This Green Heron hatchling had just broke through the morning of this photo. Of the 3 eggs in her nest 2 hatched that morning. She is actually sitting on the third egg.
Interestingly she would peck lightly at the 3rd egg. Appearing to help it hatch. The 3rd one eventually hatched the next morning. Didn't experience the hatchings but was cool all the same. This one is not even a full day old.
It was a great experience for me to witness this activity.
