The ZM Planar is one of few lenses where I have to soften the shot before posting! Impressive!
The 10MP Leica M8 released in 2006 is still more than capable for paying clients.

Leica M8 + Zeiss ZM Planar 50mm f2

I had not used my ZM Planar for quite a while having quite a few 50s to select from so I thought i'd give it another go. It is without doubt the sharpest 50 of any make I have ever used. It is only one of very few lenses where I have to soften rather than sharpen as too harsh for models faces. I think it is generic to the Zeiss Planar design as my old M42 Rollei Planar that I use on the D800 is also bitingly sharp but that one is more forgiving for skin as less micro contrast.
Considering the Leica M8 was released in September 2006 it still packs a punch and it a very capable very fine camera. I will do a follow up Leica M8 blog post with thoughts and examples later this week.
