I've realised that somehow the Samyang MF lens is metering on the D700 as is an old M42 fit lens using Nikon adapter. It correctly exposes AND gives a green dot when in focus, amazing!! No longer use the live view mode to focus every shot, just rely on D700 metering. What a great camera! :)

The funny thing is I timed it just as a low flying light aircraft was gliding past with the engine switched off but the DOF was so shallow it's nowhere to be seen!
