Within the first couple of visits after discovering this little photographic gem I saw an old truck stop along side the road at the top of the steep ditch I was standing in with all my camera gear. I figured it was the farmer who owned the property hoping he was just curious what I was doing and not mad that I was there. He turned out to be a very nice old gentleman that did indeed own this place. He told me that the farm had been bought by his family during the depression and that he had lived there for a short time as a young man before going off to serve in the military during World War II, and nobody had lived in the house since that time. Over time the barn and many outbuildings had fallen badly into disrepair so he decided to clean up the place to make way for more tillable farmland. I asked him why he hadn't razed the house along with everything else and he said, "Oh, I decided to leave it be just to show that there use to be a farm right here."
