I shot this last year just before Covid-19 really kicked in. Standing alone in the middle of Pioneer Courthouse Square she stood quietly knowing silence, and her sign, would speak for her.

This is what they're calling "The Official Animal Rights March". In 2016, UK animal rights organization Surge started with 2,500 vegans taking to the London streets, and now in 2018 it's a worldwide effort, including Portland. So, this was Portland's first effort under The Official Animal Rights March umbrella. Plus, Portland wouldn't be Portland if there wasn't at least ONE protest on a Saturday. =)

That's what this heavily surrounded man said to....well.....you ALL!
Portland has been a protest hotbed for years but that escalated after Donald Trump was elected. This past Saturday was no different as another protest erupted into clashes between Antifa (anti-fascist) group and a conservative group called Patriot Prayer.
The man you see, here, dared to venture across the street from his own rally to pick a fight with Antifa members. I was standing on a park bench to get this shot when an actual fight broke out and headed my direction. I had to leap over the back of the bench and run to escape the pile of angry men stumbling my way.
It was sad and humorous at the same time. I've been to several protests over the years but the content of taunts generated in this one made me feel like I was back in high school.
