The Star Theater, formerly known as Princess Theatre and several other names, is a historic former silent film theater in Portland, Oregon. Opened in 1911 it has been many things, anywhere from a film theater as well as a burlesque theater and an adult movie theater with live strippers on stage. In the period of 1979–1983 one of the strippers at the Star Theater was a teenage Courtney Love. It currently functions as a live music and performance space.

Happy Monochroem Monday, everyone!

An unlikely opportunity was gifted me while photographing this bridge. The afternoon was quiet with no one else around. The kind of day I prefer when I need mental rest. A man arrived and began posting signs in the area. I assumed he was a real estate agent as I've seen them before so I didn't pay any attention to the information he displayed.

He then asked where I was from and when I told him he informed me that he was promoting a small intimate Bluegrass concert at a community church about a mile away. I don't know much about Bluegrass music but, when he told me who one of the artists were, I was taken back. Mike Compton was one of the artists. If you've ever seen the movie: "O Brother, Where Art Thou?", or at least heard the soundtrack, Mike Compton is the Mandolin player you hear in most of the songs. The soundtrack won the Grammy for Album Of The Year in 2002.

To make a long story short, I called my wife and asked if she would be interested. She was! Later that night we were privileged to be in an audience of about 30 who sat on hard metal folding chairs in an old dingy church gymnasium located out in the middle of nowhere while being entertained for over two hours by one of the masters of Bluegrass. I couldn't believe it was happening.

Here's one more shot from the 2019 Pendleton Round-Up. The Barrel Racing event is considered "mixed gender" but generally female. Some males at local and youth levels. The goal is to complete a cloverleaf pattern around preset barrels in the fastest time.

How'd you like to walk down the street and suddenly happen upon this? I think all of us have experienced days like his. Your umbrellas turned inside out with your attire looking.......well.....TIRED! Then there's the face. It's the longest face, ever. And don't get me started on the hair. Yup! No one suffers quite like him.

Believe it, or not, he's busking. While striking this pose; if you place money in his jar (located at his feet) he'll immediately stumble backwards as if caught in a strong rain-laden wind. Then he goes back to this position. After observing for a while I couldn't help but notice the brief intermissions to adjust his jaw thereby giving his face a quick chiropractic adjustment. Apparently, if the wind changes his face will stick. =)
