Went for a drive south of the city today. Still lots of red-tails out there, but no swainson's. They must be pretty much gone by now.
Red-tail seen NW of Indus.
Dark morph, possibly a Harlan's sub-species of red-tail. I'll send pics to people in the know to confirm that.

Day 294 of 365, I believe this Red-tailed Hawk is a dark morph, I'll put it in some ID groups just to be sure. Saw this guy last week on a dull gray day, but didn't get a good shot. This is also known as a Harlan's Hawk. Taken on 53rd St south of Calgary.

Started the day at Pearce Estate Park and then headed south of of the city. Saw a number of Red-tails today. Good to see them back in the area.
The experts have concluded that this is a dark intermediate(dark rufous) morph Red-tail.
Spotted this dark intermediate morph Red-tailed Hawk NW of Black Diamond.
