It was Birdapalooza today, first a Northern Hawk Owl, then 2 Bald Eagles, an adult and a juvenile, then it was crazy Chickadees buzzing me looking for food and even a Downy Woodpecker getting in on the act as well as a White-breasted Nuthatch, although he wasn't as bold. All this down in Fish Creek Park at Hulls Wood and Sikome. Later I saw a Northern Flicker in Woodbine.

Day 11 of 365, Northern Hawk Owl, the first one I've ever seen, so he makes it in the 365. Saw this owl down in Fish Creek Park at Hulls Wood, just before I saw 2 Bald Eagles hanging out together, an adult and a juvenile. This is a cool looking owl, not very large but he has great coloring and it was very patient while I took some shots.

I am officially declaring the area north of Cochrane to be LOHO...Land of Hawk Owls. I went looking for two that were reported in TAW on Twp Rd 281 and found them exactly where they were supposed to be. The first was in a tree near a house so I passed on that one and quickly found the other about 1K away. After getting a bunch of shots I went looking for the other again but it was gone. I wandered the area because the skies looked like they might clear hoping for some blue sky shots but the clouds stayed. As I was going by the house where I saw the first one I noticed a lady with a camera and tripod on the side of the road so I stopped to see what she was shooting, as I stopped, a hawk owl(probably the first one I saw) flew onto a fence post about 15 feet from us. I got off one decent shot before it took off back towards the house where the lady decided to follow. Actually, I think she lived there, because there was no car around that she might have been driving so I'm sure she got a lot more shots of this bird. These must be the two that Anne said she saw also. I also saw a third one right off the 22 as I headed south from Westbrook.
