Day 124 of 365, went out and tried a few shots of constellations last night. I used to do this on film, a lot, a number of years ago, don't know why I haven't really got around to it on digital until now. This is a 30 second exposure of the Big Dipper at ISO 3200, F/4, 24 mm.

Day 231 of 365, I had a thought. Years ago, while taking film shots of Comet Hale Bopp, I stumbled on the fact that long exposures under the light of a full moon can turn night into day. I noticed when I was leaving work at 11:00 PM that the moon was almost full so I started thinking about what I could shoot. The five red barns popped into my head so off I went to see what I could do. I didn't go for the full daylight effect since the city lights would be behind the barns and the sky would likely get totally washed out, so I went for a darker effect. The only light on the barns in this 45 second exposure is from the moon. I didn't realise it while I was taking the shot, but I managed to get the Pleaides star cluster in this pic.
Oh, and the coyotes were out in full force, they were yipping away from every direction. It got a little unnerving at times, a few times they sounded like they were getting pretty close.

Day 232 of 365, have been meaning to go up to the airport and try this ever since Flickr friend Luke posted a shot like this a while back. The moon is almost full, so a really long exposure wasn't possible, so I went with ISO 200 at F/8 for 30 seconds. I think it turned out okay for my first try. I'm not done with this though, I'll definitely be trying this again.
