Day 35 of 365, I was out by Carseland today and as I was heading back I saw this train going the other way. Knowing there was a bend in the tracks in the direction it was headed I decided I needed a shot of it on the curve. Only problem, I had to wait for a semi going the other way to pass before I could turn around. Got there just in time to burn off 5 shots. I like the way it's churning up the snow as it goes.

Day 19 of 365, spotted this old caboose west of Longview in the middle of nowhere today. I've seen this before, been through this area many times over the years. I don't know how long it's been there or why, the nearest town is about 20K's to the east and there are only mountains to the west. It does look like someone is keeping it in good shape though.

Day 14 0f 365, "Spike" one of Calgary's more familiar landmarks, at the entrance to the Ogden shops in the SE part of the city.
Ogden's 75th. anniversary was held in 1988, and to commemorate this event, employees from numerous trades and unions throughout the plant came together to assemble a lasting monument that would be recognizable and a friendly welcome to visitors to Ogden. The "Mechanical Man" named SPIKE, stands 27 feet tall at the entrance to the shops. The first name given to this huge figure was Oggie, and is still called this today by many employees. He is constructed from Locomotive and Freight Car parts. The body is a boiler, the head and ears are gears and the arms and hands are couplers. He is holding a locomotive engine crankshaft in his right hand. Link to the above info:
