I've always thought about photographing the magnificent old moss covered trees in Ricklow Quarry. But it's a photo I've always missed as it means unpacking the camera gear again.
With recent tree felling (I think these are safe), I thought I'd better take this opportunity.
I got myself in a position to fill the background fully with the quarry spoils. A foggy day would be nice. It might not help too much though as you can't get enough distance to compress the fog.

Taken where Wolscote Dale meets Biggin Dale with Peaseland Rocks on the right. A difficult scene to do justice, perhaps better looking past this outcrop down into the Dale more.
In the past I've tried to photograph this tree with May blossom, but haven't got light as good as this.
We stood here in the rain for hours once and bumped into Mick Ryan who was photographing flowers for his new (at the time) book.

The view across Wolfscote Dale to Drabber Tor and distant storms that didn't stay distant.
Every now and again conditions like this remind me of why I lug a camera to the top of hills.
